AURECON
- Finalists 2014 ACC Workplace Safety
SAFETY ENGINEERS

With a business network extending across 26 countries, Aurecon has had a presence in New Zealand since 1992, and now has 7 offices throughout the country providing engineering, management and specialist technical services for clients all over the world.

That means Aurecon personnel and other workers are sometimes exposed to a range of health and safety risks making effective health and safety risk management a must.

Because the types of risk can vary enormously depending on the nature of the project and the work involved, Aurecon takes a multi-level approach to managing them.

“In its simplest form, health and safety risk management has four key elements: hazard identification, risk assessment, risk control, evaluate and review.” explains Bruce Manners, Manager of Auckland/Wellington Aurecon.

“We hold specific Hazard Workshops for individual projects where the Aurecon team and key stakeholders work together identifying potential risks and hazards, and then devising risk management strategies."

It’s a system that works: Aurecon has been working hard on the Christchurch rebuild with over 200 staff on multiple projects around the city, yet there have been no Lost Time Injuries recorded. They’re obviously doing something right.
