1) PROUDEST MOMENT OF 2012...

Nick Barratt Boyes

To grow from three to 48 people in the team and hit 20 years with the three original partners.

Studio Pacific started out in Hibernian House, Bond St in 1992, after the three old colleagues put together a plan in London in 1991 to come back home and set up practice.

Steven McDougallEvzen and Stephen went to Onslow College together. Evzen and Nick went through Architecture School in Auckland.  Stephen and Nick worked together in London.

Entering the construction industry in 1992 was not the easiest as the industry was very slow after the stock market crash of the late 80s. Their first job was a kitchen alteration in Queenstown, but several winning entries in design competitions helped establish the business.

2) BIGGEST. CHALLENGE. RECENTLY.

Winning the Wellington Airport International Terminal project and building the controversial concept "The Rock" was truly satisfying. The late Lloyd Morrison had championed an airport that reflected Wellington and then championed The Rock concept and it was very satisfying being a part of this vision.

Winning some of the bigger jobs where Studio Pacific has no previous track record with exactly that sort of project is alway a big challenge but again very satisfying to have new design challenges.

3) KEY OBJECTIVES for 2013...

In Wellington, we want to continue to deliver memorable buildings for our clients and our city:

• Harbour City Centre  A refurbishment is for Contact Energy that aims to enhance a grand old building and give it life for another generation of use.

• One Market Lane Creating fabulous apartments with Willis Bond on the harbour for Wellingtonians

• The Carilion Ongoing work on the refurbishment of this major memorial and focal point for New Zealand history.

4) LONG TERM GOAL/S...Ngawi Bach

• To internationalise the practice, focussing on the Pacific rim - the genesis of the Studio Pacific name.

• To constantly lift the impact and quality of our design work for our clients and the users of our built work.

5) MAIN ISSUES facing your Industry...Meridian

The whole construction industry has some Big Challenges in the years ahead:

a) Rebuilding Christchurch - not in an ordinary way but as a great city

b) Delivering affordable housing

c) Eliminating Construction peaks and troughs - to even out Xero Houseworkflows

d) Raising the Quality:
Creatively

Technically - no more leaky building problems.                                             ...................................................................................................
