Concrete Structure Investigations
Finalists: Team Gold - Services
Yes it's "CSI Concrete"
Concrete Structure Investigations offers non-destructive inspection and detection services to the engineering, infrastructure and construction industries, bringing concrete inspection into the 21st century with a range of services offered by no one else.
Pile Integrity Testing for example – CSI is the only PIT tester in New Zealand, using low strain impact integrity testing of wharf piles, bridge piles and everything in between. Additionally CSI offer Corrosion Control technologies such as: Galvanic Cathodic Protection and Corrosion Surveys.
With the use of a Hilti PS 1000 X-Scan and PS 200 Ferroscan it means the team can now detect reinforcing bars, metal pipes, plastic pipes, electric cables and glass-fibre cables in minutes – even over large concrete areas and can find concealed objects at depths of up to 300 mm.
Director Michael Roach explains: “We had a recent CSI scan of a 6 storey building that just saved a Wellington building owner a $200,000+ upgrade."
A year ago CSI staff numbered just two - Michael (left) and Co-Director Jane Gray (right). Now it’s up to nine, and still growing. And with the chances of concrete going out of fashion being around nil, the future’s looking solid.
