Generation Green

Kiwi Connect promotes entrepreneurship and innovation in sustainability. At their New Frontiers 2016 event, more than 200 global thinkers and doers shared ideas on the themes of Planet, Story and Economy, to workshop integrated solutions for some of the world's most pressing challenges.

Event HQ was Kiwi Connect’s R&D farm near Upper Hutt, where sustainable practice flowed through the heart of everything: from the composting toilets, urinals made from old gas bottles, pallet beds, shipping container art gallery, up-cycled fabric lanyards, grey-water system and handmade Manuka furniture. The collective carbon footprint for the event was measured and 100% offset.

“We’ve discovered that the deeper you look, the issue of waste gets dirtier and more complex,” Event Manager Charlotte Hayes says. “Sustainability isn’t the easiest path to choose, but for us it is the most important - and the only – path, if we are to contribute to the regeneration of a healthy planet and healthy society for many generations to come.”
