Orchestra Wellington has been performing for the Wellington region for seventy years and has recently had an astonishing period of growth, tripling its audience in two years.
General Manager Kirsten Mason says that a key component to the orchestra’s success is keeping ticket prices accessible. “Price is the single largest barrier to attendance, so our approach works: we have a strong, exciting brand, accessible prices and our concerts are fun. Not only have we dramatically increased audience numbers, we’re earning more from other sources too."
Musical Director Marc Taddei (pictured) adds "We’re reaching more people, and not just inside the concert hall. We perform and teach in classrooms across the region, reaching thousands of children each year. We really are Wellington’s orchestra, playing for you.”
