NEW ZEALAND RACING BOARDJohn Allen
Keeping H&S on track.....

The New Zealand Racing Board operates NZ’s racing and sports betting agency, the TAB, and is also one of the country’s largest sports broadcasters running two Trackside TV channels and a radio station.

With more than 800 staff in a range of roles in the field and office, instituting a comprehensive H&S plan for such a large and diverse organisation has been a huge effort, but worth it, says CEO John Allen (pictured). “We’ve reduced the number of ACC claim days from 436 in 2016 to 21 days in the last year, with none so far this year.”

MINISTRY OF JUSTICE
Safety bench marked Melissa Gill
Recognising that courts can be stressful places at the best of times, the Ministry of Justice has developed a health, safety and security approach that puts people – clients and staff - first.

“People need to feel they’re in a safe environment when they’re accessing the justice system,” Melissa Gill (pictured), the Ministry’s GM for Health, Safety & Security says. “we’ve introduced a variety of measures which combine great customer service with safety and security processes to achieve that.”

Already, there’s been an increase in weapons seized and serious incidents in public areas are down.
