GREYTOWN DISTILLING COMPANY

Flask Forward

Since December 2022, GDC has been shaking up the spirits scene from their Main Street Greytown location.

In their first year, they achieved an impressive $435,000 turnover and doubled their staff members.

Innovation includes packaging, using stainless steel food-grade recyclable flasks to stand out in a sea of glass bottles.

Within five months of launching, they snagged three national medals at the New Zealand Spirits Awards.

Now, they're setting their sights on the global stage with impressive wins (Gold and Silver) in the 2024 World Spirits Awards in London.

“We're crafting visitor experiences," says Gavin Hodder (pictured) Director "From our 'Judgement Room' gin education center to our franchise retail offer and a new distillery complex opening in 2026, we're all about elevating the art of spirits in the Wairarapa."

PROLOGIC SKIN CARE

Skin Wins

Since becoming a full-time venture in 2022, Prologic Skin Care has rapidly expanded its reach in the niche field of corneotherapy -  with its core principle of repair and maintenance of the skin barrier defence systems.

Prologic has seen a staggering 160% growth rate in the last financial year, with over 130 stockists across New Zealand, Australia, and the UK.

As one of only two brands worldwide dedicated to corneotherapy, Prologic is putting New Zealand on the map for innovative skincare solutions.

Rachel Robertson (pictured) Director, emphasizes their unique approach: "In a world of quick fixes, we're championing skin health from the outside in. Our success lies in educating both professionals and consumers about the power of a strong skin barrier.”

Their commitment to sustainability extends beyond their vegan-friendly products, fostering a supportive community among stockists and prioritizing education in the industry.

SPRIG + FERN BERHAMPORE

Ale & Hearty

In just two years, John and Rachel Sommerfield have transformed Sprig + Fern Berhampore from a quiet corner tavern into a bustling community hub.

With sales soaring to over $1 million and staff growing from 6 to 9, this neighborhood gem has become a local success story.

The tavern's unique appeal lies in its focus on conversation and connection, eschewing TVs and pokies in favor of a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Their community-centric approach extends beyond their walls, supporting displaced local businesses and hosting regular fundraising events.

John Sommerfield, (pictured with Finnbar & Rachel) Owners/Operators, reflects on their journey: "Winning 'Best Local' at the Hospitality New Zealand Awards wasn't just about serving great beer.  It's about creating a space where everyone feels at home – where conversations flow as freely as our taps."

THE BOND STORE

Sippin' Pretty

From its Kāpiti Coast base, The Bond Store has evolved from a small limoncello producer in 2018 to a multi-brand powerhouse in just five years.

With an impressive turnover of close to $1 million and a team that's grown from one to five, they've become a cornerstone of the local food and beverage industry.

Their innovative approach extends beyond spirits. The Bond Store has created a unique "Kāpiti Coast Food and Beverage Logistics Hub," offering storage and distribution solutions to small local producers.

This community-minded initiative has strengthened the region's culinary ecosystem.

"We're not just crafting spirits; we're fermenting change in our community," says Chris Barber (pictured with Harry, Bec Kay & Ruby Barber-Kay) Owners. "Our lemon-peeling initiative alone raised over $10,600 for local charities last year."

With plans to double output and expand to North America, The Bond Store is set to put Kāpiti on the global spirits map.
