- Finalist 2014 Vibrant Gold

Yeast – it’s the wonder substance. Sometimes it makes bread, sometimes it makes beer… but how does it know?

Luckily, it doesn’t have to - that’s what brewers are for. And every year brewers and brewing are celebrated at Beervana, New Zealand's premier craft beer celebration that packs out the Westpac Stadium.

With over 200 craft beers on offer and the opportunity to meet many of New Zealand’s best brewers in person, Beervana’s attendance is growing year to year; from around 4,000 in 2010, to more than 9491 people attending last year.

A WCC survey shows 36% of attendees to the 2013 event were from outside of Wellington, bringing an economic benefit to the regional economy estimated at almost $3 million.

Beervana is most definitely not a drinking festival, director David Cryer points out. “It is a tasting and sampling event promoting responsible attitudes to alcohol.”

Live brewing and a variety of seminars ranging from matching beer with food to a home brewing masterclass to a lesson on the history of beer ensures that visitors have a great time, come out enlightened and eager to continue their journey in the Craft Beer Capital of New Zealand – Wellington. I’ll sample to that!
