Masterpet services 3,300 clients across New Zealand, made up of Vet clinics and Pet stores selling premium foods such as Iams and Eukanuba and over 2,000 separate stock items of Pet accessories.
The Vitapet brand, selling in every grocery store throughout the country, was developed for that specific market so as to not compete directly with pet retailers. Masterpet adopted the same approach when it entered the mass market, investing heavily in its own brand of products, Pet Team, allowing it to compete with other brands in its specialty pet stores.
Training and Development Manager Fiona Couchman tell us: "Masterpet’s point of difference is the added value training it offers clients. The company has just finished working with over 100 vets and practice managers in an initiative called ‘Love Your Work’, who receive bi-monthly training in the area of leadership and business skills.
The program, launched four years ago, is is a significant investment by Masterpet but one that’s truly a win-win for both clients and the company. It has resulted in a greater engagement of vets who recognise Masterpet as a strategic business partner providing business skills and value to its clients."
