High Tech Holidays

Launched in 2006 and now in its ninth year of operation, Summer of Tech is an award-winning non-profit programme that helps local ICT businesses source top talent from local tertiary institutions, while giving students valuable real-world industry experience.

“Our innovation is true industry leadership - local employers set the priorities and deliver the training,” says CEO Ruth McDavitt. “Our services are delivered by industry, for industry. Volunteers from iconic Wellington companies like Xero, Trade Me, Solnet, Powershop and Silverstripe worked with around 400 Wellington students this winter to prepare them for work”

Internships are paid summer jobs in a range of local ICT organisations, from startups hiring their first employees, to bigger companies, corporates and government departments. Summer of Tech makes it easy for them to access top local talent, and helps student connect to local employment opportunities.

Summer of Tech has helped create over 450 new ICT jobs in New Zealand since 2006, attracting and retaining top talent in Wellington, launching careers and supporting technology sector growth and innovation.
