Founded in 1924 Tranzit operates 700 vehicles and employs 600 staff giving them the flexibility to meet all transport requirements right throughout Aotearoa.
Fourth generation family owned and proud to be one of the largest transport companies in New Zealand. Celebrating 90 years this year, Tranzit is now run by third generation brothers Paul & Keven Snelgrove. The group operates several brands; Tranzit Coachlines, Tranzit Tours, Pacific Tourways (Auckland), Cross Country Rentals. They’re also a major shareholder in InterCity Group incorporating Greatsights, and Tourmasters South Pacific.
One of Tranzit’s successes was gaining the contract for Rugby World Cup 2011. Paul Snelgrove, MD, said there was initially some doubt from RWC organisers.
“They questioned who we were and why a family bus company from Masterton thought they could take on a nationwide sporting event and the fourth largest sporting event in the world.”
However, the company proved itself by gaining and successfully delivering transport to teams, VIPs, sports officials and media during the event. “It has cemented our company as the leading 5 star event coach transport provider in New Zealand”
Several major contracts later, Tranzit is still well ahead of the rest. Significant investment in 2013 into Euro 5 standard vehicles, coaches are equipped with the latest in satellite technology and safety systems, and driver-training systems are acknowledged to be the industry benchmark.
