Building Talent
The Wellington Regional School of Construction, part of WelTec, is the 3rd largest in New Zealand, and delivers the full range of construction-related trades and professional training.

With a brand new campus opened in March 2015 by the Deputy Prime Minister, the School has a direct relationship with the Wellington Trades Academy, providing an academic pathway for students wishing to continue through to higher level study while also providing learners with a qualification for their future.

Sixty two per cent of the students are under 25 years of age. Of the student group, 28% identify as Māori and 16% as Pasifika. These rates are greater than the national and local demographics. Success rates are among the highest at Weltec averaging 92% for all groups.

“The construction industry in New Zealand needs a wide a range of skilled trades’ staff to meet current and future building requirements,” Head of the School of Construction says. “We’re training tradespeople and those working in construction management so vitally needed for growing our economy both for the Wellington region and nationally.”
